Secular groups say tax payers should not fund World Youth Day

As World Youth Day draws near, there is mounting speculation amongst Sydney siders about the impact on their city. This July, four days of events will culminate in a visit by the Pope, who will conduct a mass at Sydney’s Randwick Race course. Its expected that 125,000 pilgrims will visit Sydney to attend the mass. However, the organisers are defensive about the multi-millionion dollar bill expected for NSW taxpayers.
