In March, the Shop Distributive and Allied Employees’ Association (SDA) in South Australia negotiated a workplace deal with retail employers which significantly cut penalty rates for workers in exchange for a modest pay increase. Praised by politicians and business leaders alike, it’s the employees themselves who disagree with the move saying students and young people will be put at risk.
