Those living at the bottom of the Murray are rapidly losing hope that anything can be done for an environment so stressed by lack of water . But a scientific study released today says while things are indeed very bad, there is still hope. The three year research collaboration between the CSIRO and a cluster of other major research institutions looked at the survival of plants and animals in the region University of Adelaide Professor Justin Brookes led the survey – he says currently The Coorong is in steep decline, with a salinity level five times that of seawater.
