In a world first, a US research team has successfully removed a heart-defect-causing gene from a human embryo. This breakthrough could see scientists eventually remove genetic diseases from a family line.

 

Doctor Hannah Brown is a Research Scientist at the University of Adelaide who has a wide range of knowledge on gene editing.
