Science, Environment and Universities all face budget cuts
Science, environment, research and innovation all suffered severe cuts in the budget on Tuesday.
Analysis by the Australian Academy of Science, shows major scientific initiatives will get 131.4 million dollars, while the $3.9 billion Education Investment Fund will be abolished and repurposed, and funding for research grants to universities and entrepreneur programs will be cut.
At the same time as funding for research is being reduced, analysis shows Australia is performing poorly on environmental matters.
It shows Australia is one of the worst in the world in terms of tree clearing and animal deaths and a lack of enforceable policies to support the environment.
