School Curriculum to Include Aboriginal Culture

The Federal Government is considering a proposal that will see the new national curriculum embed indigenous culture in subjects ranging from English, Science to History. It’s part of a push to lift educational standards among aboriginal children, while also raising awareness of indigenous affairs among all school children. The move is considered a win for 200 Indigenous leaders who recently wrote to the Education Minister, Julia Gillard, demanding more be done to incorporate Aboriginal perspectives.
