After the death of a miner and a tedious rescue operation involving two other miners who survived the rockfall at the Beaconsfield Gold Mines, questions cropped up about occupational health and safety issues around mines in Australia. Assistant Secretary ACTU and spokesman for Occupational Health and Safety spoke about the need to inspect the mines to ensure miners who leave home for work in the morning, come back at the end of the day.
