Access to affordable water is a human right, but for many, this access is severely restricted. Millions of people from impoverished, marginalised communities around the world have no choice but to collect unsafe, dirty water. This water often comes from open ponds and rivers. If this isn’t an option, many of those people have to spend a significant amount of their income buying water from vendors. A new report released from international NGO WaterAid aims to shed light on just how many people around the world are struggling to afford water.
