SA unemployment will still rise despite submarine deal

Australia’s next generation submarines are to be built in South Australia, providing a much needed boost for the domestic manufacturing industry. While the long-term benefits are clear cut, the short-term advantages aren’t so obvious.

 

With South Australia already set to lose thousands of jobs as the car manufacturing industry phases out, the 1,700 jobs being created don’t come close to filling the deficit.
