The Euthanasia debate is back on the agenda following the assisted suicide of a 93 year old woman from Adelaide. The retired nurse, who left her family and home for Switzerland where voluntary euthanasia is legal, has re-ignited the debate and a push for euthanasia to be legalized. Independent MP Bob Such and Labor Backbencher Steph Key plan to introduce a private members bill to the SA Parliament before the end of this year. This year also marks the 10th anniversary of the Northern Territories historic ‘right to die’ laws which were passed but quickly overturned by Canberra a few months later.
