State legislation enacted late last year has introduced barriers for independents and small party candidates this election. New requirements mean anyone nominating for Parliament must secure more funding and more backers. So is this move successfully stopping the less genuine parties that emerge during election time, or is it an undemocratic policy which unfairly favors the major parties?
