Member of the South Australian Greens; Robert Simms MLC will propose an inquiry into supermarket prices in parliament tomorrow, after Adelaide recorded the nation’s biggest jump in food prices across all states.

The announcement comes after the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s recent announcement that a they would conduct a Federal inquiry into competition in the supermarket sector.

Charitable organisations such as the South Australian wing of Foodbank have seen a sharp rise in people accessing groceries, as consumers are increasingly priced out of sourcing groceries at Australia’s major supermarket chains.
