SA Bikie laws unconstitutional, says High Court
Bikies around the country are celebrating tonight after the High Court today declared South Australia’s controversial anti bikie laws unconstitutional. That state’s Serious and organised Crime Control Act had allowed restrictions to be placed on gang members witout a court having the power to review evidence Constitutional Law expert Professor JohnWilliams from the University of Adelaide said today’s decision was a recognition that states were overstepping the mark in their zeal to deal with law and order. Mick macPherson, Sergeant-In-Arms of the Adelaide chapter of the Finks says the decision means he can reopen his business which has been severely restricted by the SA law.
