Rudd’s productivity push ‘inconsistent’ with uni cuts
One of the government’s advisors on innovation says that Kevin Rudd’s push to improve Australia’s productivity growth is at odds with recent cuts to the higher education sector.
There’s been a mixed reaction to the economic plan that Kevin Rudd laid out in a major presentation to the Canberra Press Club yesterday. Rudd outlined a seven point plan to boost our productivity, and one of the main parts of his plan was about eduction. Rudd was keen to talk up the government’s better schools policy as part of the plan.But some experts say that if the government is serious about being competitive internationally, it also needs to fix recent cuts to our universities and the TAFE system.
