Jockeys have been taking industrial action across Victoria as the Australian Racing Board refused to back down over new rules about whipping racehorses. The new rules limit the number of times a horse can be whipped during the last 200 metres and jockey’s must now use padded whips to soften the impact on horses. The RSPCA has slammed the jockeys who are threatening continued action. The Wire was unable to get in contact with the Australian Jockeys Association for an interview.
