This week, RMIT University’s Centre for Innovative Justice received a national indigenous award at the Australian Philanthropy Awards at the Sydney Opera House.

In collaboration with Woor-Dungin, the Criminal Records Discrimination Project is about seeking to reduce negative impacts that are felt by Aboriginal Victorians who are unable to work due to receiving criminal records as young children.

The Victorian state government has now introduced new legislation that removes ‘spent convictions’ and requires Victoria Police to expunge those records.
