Never one to shrink from controversy, Aboriginal film-maker, playwright and human rights activist Richard Frankland is in the spotlight again. Just months ago he co-founded the nation’s latest aboriginal political party – Your Voice. But with fears that the party will not gain enough members to be registered before an election is called, Mr Frankland has signed up as an independent hopeful with Channel Seven’s Vote For Me on the Sunrise program. He has survived the elimination process to become one of three candidates for his state and faces public voting to see if he will succeed in becoming one of the candidates financially aided by Channel Seven in their efforts to be elected.
