In a world first, staff at the Taronga Western Plains Zoo have successfully fertilised a Black Rhinoceros egg. Future generation rhinos will no longer miss out on the genes of today as infertile female rhinos get the help they need to become parents using IVF techniques. The main hurdle was finding instruments long enough to extract the female’s eggs.
