In the Northern Territory, the Indigenous survivors of Philip Creek Mission say they will not be seen as victims anymore. They were taken from their families near Tennant Creek and driven by truck to the Retta Dixon home in Darwin. Aged one to eight years of age, they were then allowed no contact with their families or country. After leaving Retta Dixon as adults some began the long journey to reconnect with family and homelands… Those still alive have decided they will not wait for compensation or for an apology but have taken matters into their own hands. With a mix of traditional cultural ceremonies and orthodox counselling, the surviving Retta Dixon residents have begun their own journey of healing. This weekend the journey concludes with their return to Phillip Creek.
