A lot of people imagine their retirement years spent on the lawn bowling green or sitting on the verandah knitting socks for their grand-children. Not Virginia Walker, who’s just won a human rights community award for her efforts in establishing the ‘Bridge for Asylum Seekers’ group in 1993. Working with volunteer lawyers and caseworkers, she’s helped more than 200 new refugees settle into Australia. She explains what the organisation was all about and why she still feels
