Researchers to meet for a solution to HTLV-1 in remote communities

Representatives of Aboriginal health services in Central Australia and Alice Springs Hospital will meet with key research groups in August to tackle the cancer-causing Human T-cell Lymphotropic Virus-1. The virus has been found in one third of Indigenous people tested in Central Australian hospitals. Late last month, 60 top scientists called on the World Health Organisation to step up its efforts to combat the virus.
