Prisoners are much more likely to face drug and alcohol problems than the general population, but finding the right programs to support them is difficult.

Figures from 2015 show two-thirds of prisoners used illicit drugs in the past year compared to 16 per cent of the general population.

Substance use as well as mental health disorders can influence whether and to what extent prisoners re-offend when they’re released.
