Climate change made some of 2015’s extreme weather events more likely according to research published by the American Meteorological Society.

The study is part of an annual review of global weather extremes focused on October 2015 with data showing October was the hottest month in Australia on record while also being the driest for Tasmania.

The hot and dry weather led to Tasmania only receiving 17 per cent of its monthly rainfall during October while Climate Scientist, Andrew King says the extreme weather encouraged bush fires and the floods in Tasmania earlier this year.
