As the Libyan rebel army closes in on the last remaining strongholds of the Gaddafi regime, revenge killings by both sides may complicate any move towards sustainable peace.

Professor Tim Dunne from the University of Queensland’s School of Political Science and International studies says he isn’t surprised reprisals are taking place. He argues the new Libyan leaders must drive rapid disarmament and a return to civilian society to avoid a relapse into violence.
