4.4 billion dollars has been poured into the tsunami relief effort, but a report released this week by human rights group Global Exchange is highly critical of how international NGOs are spending that money. They say living conduitions for people in Aceh are very low and there’s little evidence of groups working with locals to give them what they actually want and need. Peter Chamberlain is the Tsunami Response Manager for Oxfam Australia agrees there are problems getting things done but says it’s made more difficult by the fact that much land is now covered by water.
