An independent report compiled by the COAG Reform Council which looked at the success of the Closing The Gap campaign was released today. It has shown that while Australia has improved in closing the gaps between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians when it comes to infant death rates and overall education performance, there is much to be desired in other areas such as numeracy and literacy levels, employment outcomes, and more importantly, life expectancy. The report is to be presented to the Federal and State governments at the next COAG meeting.
