New footage showing cruel treatment to Australian sheep in Egypt has reignited calls to end Australia’s export of live sheep. Similar footage in the past prompted the drafting of an agreement between the Australian and Egyptian governments that aimed to protect Australian animals. Despite the latest footage showing an apparent breech of the guidelines, the Federal Minister for Agriculture, Peter McGauran has ruled out banning live exports to Egypt.
