Today 35 Aboriginal Regional Council Chairs got together in Sydney for their first meeting since John Howard announced he was abolishing the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission. Unlike ATSIC, the regional councils will be in place until June 2005 so they still have time to do more work. The Wire spoke to Alice Springs Regional Council Chairman Des Rogers and Patpa Warra Yunti Regional Council Chairman Tauto Sandbury to find out what they have planned for the future.
