A 15 month long impasse on the Renewable Energy Target has ended with Labor and the government agreeing on a deal to reduce the target by nearly 30 percent from 41,000 GWH, to 33,000 GWH. Environment Minister Greg Hunt says the reduction is about protecting jobs in “trade-exposed” sectors (coal) and the Opposition says the deal is about restoring investor confidence, but industry experts say more jobs will go.
