The New South Wales Parliamentary enquiry into the policing of inner-city Redfern has been dogged by controversy from the beginning. The opposition has accused the government of gagging a police witness who claims the February riot was the result of a 50-million dollar a year heroin trade – not racism. And so far, the enquiry’s had a mixed response form members of the indigenous community. Craig Egert interviewed two members of the indigenous community at Redfern – Shane Phillips and Lyall Munroe.
