The face of Australia’s Prime Minister has splashed the front covers of Northern Territory newspapers all week, in a unified condemnation of Malcolm Turnbull’s negligence regarding Aboriginal child protection.  A severe lack of child protection has led to a crisis, highlighted by the rape of a two-year-girl in the Northern Territory this year.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and the Mayor of Tennant Creek, Steve Edgington, met in Canberra today to discuss solutions.

Adding to the crisis, the release of the long-withheld report The Independent Review of Out of Home Care by public servant David Tune has exposed the failings of Family and Community Services (FACs).

NGOs have called for government-backed funding, directed at preventative and longer-term solutions in collaboration with the Aboriginal community.
