Reaction to GM crop announcement
Yesterday, the Victorian and New South Wales governments announced a ban on Genetically modified crops will be lifted in early next year. All over the world governments have struggled to convince their people that GM crops are the way of the future and Australia is yet to do any independent research into the safety of practice. Yet the all clear has been given for GM crops in two Australian states. The majority of the scientific community is in favour of Genetic Modification but what about the farmers in the industry? The Wire’s Tom Henderson talked to Scott Kinnear, the head of Biological Farmers Australia to gauge his reaction to the announcement.
