Re-energising Australia: a green blueprint for change
Today the Federal Greens unveiled a new policy to tackle climate change, revitalize the manufacturing industry and reduce the country’s dependence on oil. The report, entitled Re-Energising Australia, sets a target of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 30% by 2020 climbing to 80% by 2050. But the plan has been criticized for not including any economic costing. The Prime Minister maintains that setting any deeps cuts in emissions should not without the rest of the world following suite and without hurting the economy. Greens Climate Change Spokesperson, Senator Christine Milne, outlined why the party had not implemented any economic costing.
