Research has found Australia is once again going to break its carbon budget if it continues on its current course.

But this time the picture is both much more bleak and much more optimistic.

They found keeping emissions below our share of a global carbon budget leading to 1.5 degrees warming is impossible, but keeping below 2 degrees warming is achievable if we cut electricity use and expand our renewables base.
