Graveyards across aboriginal communities degrade over time, headstones are damaged, and where past ancestors are buried becomes difficult to track.

Innovative Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Technology from Flinders University is being used to combat the unknown and inform aboriginal elders on the locations of the deceased.

The GPR detects soil disturbance, and Damien Bell, CEO of Gunditj Mirring Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation, says the ongoing collaboration with the elders at Lake Condah Mission in Victoria and from Flinders University has uncovered over 60 new gravesites.
