On Tuesday, civil unrest reached breaking point in Kalgoorlie, WA, spilling into violent protests as emotional residents took a stand against racism.

The events erupted a day after a 55 year old man was charged with the manslaughter of a local Indigenous teenager.

However, residents say the chain of events are the result of an undercurrent of racism, which has been developing for years.
