Chief officials gathered last Friday to discuss the nation’s response to the criminalisation of coercive control.
This meeting followed the release of a state draft bill that hopes to combat the control. The draft expands the definition of abusive behaviour to involve persistent texting, controlling who your partner sees and more.
However, as the government seek public feedback on the draft, concerns have been raised surrounding how victim’s will prove being subject to this control.
Mia Rakhit spoke to the Interim CEO of Domestic Violence NSW Elise Phillips about these uncertainties.
