Lawyer and activist Alyena Mohummadally has called for stereotypes surrounding Queer Muslims to be re-examined. Born to Pakistani parents, Mohummadally grew up in Melbourne where she struggled to reconcile her religious and sexual identity. Now a lawyer and activist, she told the Wire’s Biwa Kwan that there needs to be a better understanding of the challenges Queer Muslims face, particularly the threat of homophobia.
