A new report finds Queensland can meet its 50 per cent renewable energy target, but it will need to heavily invest to bring new large-scale projects online.

While the sunshine state has quite a lot of renewable energy projects being built, the renewable energy expert panel says between 4000 to 5500 megawatts of new projects need to be built between 2020 and 2030 to meet the government’s target.

This will come at a total cost of between $6.1 and 6.7 billion, with an impost on the state budget of between $500-900 million to get the projects off the ground.
