Queensland had only just brought in civil union legislation in the dying days of the Bligh government, but now that Campbell Newman’s in charge, the game has changed all of a sudden.
Premier Newman announced yesterday that the Civil Partnership Act would not be repealed, but would be amended. The change scraps state-sanctioned ceremonies, a move which leaves gay couples to simply register their union.
