Indigenous protests continued at a Commonwealth Games luncheon for the Queen in Melbourne today. The protest follows revelations that the Queen will not be acknowledging Indigenous Traditional Land owners at tonights Commonwealth games opening ceremony. The north-west nations clan in Victoria has already boycotted a project to recruit local artists to help make possum skin cloaks, because they say it was badly handled. Spokesman Gary Murray says he’s concerned that Indigenous issues still aren’t being addressed despite the amount of money being spent on the Queens visit. Meanwhile, the Senior Woman of the Wurundjeri peoples of the Melbourne area, Joy ‘Wandin’ Murphy, says she draws hope from the content of the Queen’s formal address to Parliament this week.
