For the first time, the world’s oceans have a monetary value: AUD $31 trillion. The World Wildlife Foundation has worked with Queensland University to calculate the ocean’s total asset value. Researchers hope a hard economic value can inspire urgent conservation action where previous appeals have fallen short.
