The success of a phone ban at Davidson High School on Sydney’s Northern Beaches has sparked debate on whether NSW should prohibit phones in schools statewide.
The school has since seen a 90% decrease in phone-related behavioral issues, such as distractions and conflict between students.
The current policy in NSW only restricts phones in primary schools. Secondary schools, however, implement rules at their own discretion.
All public schools in Western Australia, Tasmania and Victoria have had a phone ban in place since 2020.
