The Australian High Court has determined that public servants can have their employment terminated if they speak out on government policy.

The Comcare v Banjeri case is the conclusion of proceedings between Michaela Banerji and the government, prompted by Banjeri’s sacking in 2013 from the Department of Immigration and Border Protection when it was discovered she was behind an anonymous Twitter account critical of agency policies.
