With scheduled elections in Egypt just one week away, protestors have again taken over Cairo’s Tahrir square, demanding that the military step back from power. The entire cabinet has offered its resignation, but the protestors are demanding that the military council step down. With preparations for the elections in a state of chaos, hope is fading that next week’s election will run smoothly.

Around 30 people have been killed in clashes with police and military forces, as the military clamped down on the protests. But thousands of Egyptians remain in Tahrir square, and the protests are expected to continue.
