Protesters converged on John Howard’s electoral office in Bennelong, Sydney today, with members of Carers Alliance calling for greater funding for disability services. The group also wants the Federal Government to match state and territory funding, to support carers and their disabled children. The government has pledged a $1000, tax free payment to carers with disabled children under the age of 16. However the alliance says the sum of money is a shocking insult to every disabled person and every carer because it doesn’t go far enough to covering their needs.
