The Wire

As the Covid 19 pandemic spreads across the world overcrowded prison systems are obvious sites for major outbreaks. Prison staff pass in and out every day so disease vectors into the community are inevitable. Many prisoners have compromised health and immunity systems. In Australia indigenous prisoners are the group at most risk. Aboriginal Legal Services has launched a petition which calls for at risk prisoners to be released to home detention, before the inevitable spread of the virus throughout prisons.
