Prison education still stalled despite rehabilitation push in NSW

As the date of the New South Wales election draws nearer, teachers who work in jails are worried that education programs for prisoners aren’t going to receive any extra attention, despite an opposition push for new rehabilitation programs. So far the opposition is only promising to boost drug rehabilitation programs, rather than improve the general education of prisoners. Also, those who work in the prisons say that there is an entrenched culture of punishment in the prison bureaucracy that undermines the resolve of prisoners who are trying to press ahead with their education.
