63 Journalists have been detained at a free-speech protest in Sudan today. Hundreds of protestors gathered around parliament to demand more than lip service to the 2005 guarantee of “freedom of the press”. At present, the Sudanese government regularly uses intimidation tactics and print seizures to control the media.
