The Zimbabwe elections are due to be held this weekend. The country is already an economic basket case with rampant inflation but Robert Mugabe’s latest plan is to nationalise all industries. He’s asked foreign companies to hand over 51% control to local owners, and also to lower their prices so that locals can afford to live. Deborah Hawke spoke with former Ambassador and High Commissioner in Africa, Professor Helen Ware, about the reality of Mugabe’s strategy for Zimbabweans living under his iron fist.
